A note from Maggie Gundersen to our viewers:
Thanks for viewing our website and watching the videos supported by your donations to Fairewinds Energy Education Corp. As we move into 2012, we are thankful for the energy and creativity of our viewers. We thank you for your comments and questions; you have given us a great deal to consider! We share your concerns about the tragic nuclear accidents at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, and the impact of that accident to public health and safety. Unfortunately, as far as seeking answers to personal questions, because we are not attorneys or medical doctors we are legally prohibited from giving any personal advice.

By the way, each day we receive 200 to 250 emails from viewers around the world. We truly appreciate the information that is sent, and more importantly this connection has enabled us to work with scientists, doctors, and researchers around the globe. Unfortunately, due to the large volume of emails, we are often unable to respond personally, however, rest assured that each email is read by a real person.

If you sent email between October and the end of December and you are not sure that we read your email, please send try again. I became ill in June and had several surgeries beginning in August, by November, when I had my last surgery, I was feeling run down and only working part-time, so I know that I still have emails which need a response. Patrick Moore, who has joined our efforts as a freelance research assistant is beginning to help me catch up.

Let me give you a little background about us. Fairewinds Associates is a paralegal services and expert witness firm that I founded in 2003. I am a mediator in private practice and in small claims court in addition to having more than 30-years experience in the nuclear industry and my ongoing paralegal work in nuclear safety and reliability testimony and litigation. Arnie, Fairewinds' chief engineer, has 40-years of nuclear power engineering experience specializing in nuclear safety and reliability issues. Arnie joined me full time at Fairewinds Associates in 2008. He is also my husband, and we have been married for 33-years.

Fairewinds Associates researches complex engineering and environmental issues and publishes our findings either on Fairewinds' website or as expert reports and/or in live testimony before regulators for clients like the State of Vermont, Friends of the Earth, Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League (BREDL), Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE), and other governmental or environmental organizations throughout the US, Canada & overseas.

Fairewinds Energy Education Corp, for which I am a founding director, is a 501c3 non-profit founded in 2008. Its mission is to educate the public about nuclear power and other energy issues. Beginning in 2008, Fairewinds Energy Education Corp received several grants to study ongoing radioactive releases occurring at operating nuclear power plants in the US. Following the nuclear accident at the Japanese Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant site on March 11, 2011, Fairewinds Energy Education Corp received a grant to produce educational videos to help people around the world understand the truth about what happened at Fukushima Daiichi and the world-wide impact of this nuclear catastrophe that dwarfs Three Mile Island (TMI) and Chernobyl.

As of early 2012, our videos have received more than 7.5 million views, and Fairewinds Energy Education Corp began receiving donations to help sustain this work. Thanks to the talented efforts of an all-volunteer team, our website has also been translated to Japanese. A new more user friendly website design is in process, and two additional volunteers have joined our efforts.

Fairewinds Energy Education Corp is very thankful for the considerable efforts and ongoing work of our talented volunteers and for the donations that continue to make this work possible. If you have donated, thank you! And, if you have not, would you please consider making a donation to this project? Unfortunately, radiation releases from any nuclear power plant accident do not stop at international borders but become air or water borne and travel around the world.

Thank you for viewing our work and contributing to the international work of Fairewinds Energy Education Corp.
